In 2018, photographers live with a constant reminder that billions of pictures are being created on a daily basis, just to be immediately deleted or looked at for less then a second. We will, however, focus on the image-making processes that involve something quite different: hand-made cameras, complex mixtures of chemicals, years of waiting, custom software and AI. The definition of photography is constantly expanding, and more than a handful of artists are now moving to the realm of 3D photo sculptures and VR, or coming back to traditional methods of image-making using just light and paper. Drawing on her own experience working with camera-less printing techniques in a color darkroom, Tatiana will dive into the new directions in contemporary fine-art photography and look at behind-the-scenes processes and inspirations that drive creativity when seemingly everything has been done before.
