Karen Keating

Karen Keating earned an M.F.A in photography at Maryland Institute College of Art and studied at the Corcoran School and the Maine and Santa Fe Photographic Workshops with Keith Carter, Arno Minkennan and Eugene Richards. She has been a photography studio teacher at The Field School since 1990 and is Executive Director of Photoworks, Inc. at Glen Echo Park, a photography education center.  At Photoworks, Karen teaches darkroom classes, intermediate and advanced classes on “Towards a Personal Style”, “In the Style of a Master Photographer”, and summer youth darkroom and street shooting classes. She is a member emeritus at Multiple Exposures Gallery, Torpedo Factory, Alexandria; member of the Society of Photographic Educators; and recipient of Tufts University Art Teacher Award, Maryland State Arts Council grant, and 2010 Excellence in Teaching Award from CENTER in Santa Fe, NM. Karen recently self-published her first photography book,  “Cubans: Watching and Waiting”.
